When do you meet?
We meet from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on the third Thursday of each month. If there is a conflict with a holiday or a major church event, we will work to reschedule
Where do you meet?
We meet at Trinity Church, 19380 N 10th Street, Covington, LA 70433 in their Family Discipleship Center. This building, known as the FDC, is the last building on the right when you enter the church parking lot.
Is this for experienced crafters only?
Not at all. Crafters of all levels are welcome. We have several women who regularly attend who enjoy crafting and are willing to help you learn a new crafting skill. Or just bring a craft you already do and would like to work on. Or just come and visit.
Can children attend?
Your young lady is welcome to attend with you. We do ask that you stay with her and not just drop her off. We also ask that you be aware that some crafting tools can be hazardous to young children. We cannot be held responsible for their safety. If you have any questions or want to discuss this further, please contact Babette Watterson.
Can I bring food and/or drinks?
Yes you may. We have coffee and water available. This is self-serve, so if you are concerned because of Covid or other reasons, we recommend you bring your own. You may also bring your own snack or a snack to share.
Is there a fee for the classes that are offered most months?
There might be for materials if the teacher is providing the materials needed. We don’t charge a general class fee and we don’t pay teachers for their instruction time. This is about ladies sharing in community.
How do you decide which classes to offer?
Sometimes it is based upon request. Sometimes it is because interest was expressed in the past but the timing did not allow several to participate. Sometimes it is because one of the ladies offered to teach a certain craft or crafting skill.
Can I bring in my sewing machine, iron, wood burning tool, etc. that needs to be plugged in?
Yes, please do. Please also bring an extension cord just in case we cannot get you set up close enough to an open outlet.
What kinds of crafts can I bring?
Any that you are willing to bring in and, when leaving, clean up and take back home with you. Some of the crafts women have brought in so far include knitting, crocheting, sewing, wood burning, painting, embroidery, and sketching to name a few.
I want to learn how to use my sewing machine. When will the next class be on that?
No need to wait for a class. Just bring it. Make sure you have your manual since each machine is a little different. Make sure you have your power cord, thread, an empty bobbin, and an extension cord. Scrap fabric is also needed. We also have machines available to borrow during class if we know before that morning that you want to borrow one.
